picture in SetGroupId
« on: 19 Feb 2004, 13:05:24 »
The Official comref says:

Description:
Set group identity. Id format is [letter, color, picture] or [letter, color].

I am interested in the 'picture' section of the Id format.  I assume that this means that and editor can add a picture file to a mission folder and reference it in the SetGroupId so that it appears whenever that group chats. I have searched a number of editing forums and there is no mention of this use of the command.
What is the exact syntax for the 'picture' section of the Id format and what kind of picture file should be used (ie JPEG, PAA, BITMAP, etc)???
This would be a very useful aspect of the SetGroupId command because it would differentiate between chat texts much more.
Please do not post about the 'letter' or 'colour' format of SetGroupId, I already know what these are for.
Thanx

All pics used in briefings etc have to be a combination the following dimensions

64, 128, 256 etc etc (I think this is pixels)

I have no idea if you can go below 64

File formats supported are
.jpg
.pac

I dont know if others can be used

hope this helps

Try a .jpg picture with both sides which are 2^n in pixels .... so 64, 128 etc as Terox suggests but I don't see why you couldn't go lower than 64.   Put the picture in your mission folder and see what happens.

There is a command which allows you to change the picture on a loon's arm, or the side of the vehicle.   I can't remember what it is and I've never used it.   It probably isn't relevant here, but it's not impossible that it might cooperate/conflict with this command in some way.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

It's a good question this. Perhaps if it is linked to the shoulder patch pics, then It may show up the same pic next to the chat text. That would be cool.
I'm gonna try it out.
