Termal imaging..
« on: 03 Feb 2004, 13:57:50 »
Anyone ever tried making something like that?

Is it even possible?

I dont have any experiences with programming im afraid, but thinking a colorless filter(nightvision goggles in black/white) and with all vehicles and units comming out in clear white could be fairly easy to make? or am i wrong?

Thanks in advance..

**Edit: just saw its been asked before, and wasnt doable, sorry for bringing it up again**

Nope, not possible with current game limitations.

It could be possible if someone gave readings for different things, so they shown up as different light intensities on the goggles (men could be 10, tanks 3, snow 0.1 etc). It would take years, literally, though

im reckon it could be... but would require intense scripting... using distance checking and alive commands and other such things... making thermal images appear could work...

Have you guys ever played Metal Gear Solid 1? (mgs2 is too complex) Basically, all guards & weapons  & stuff showed up as bright red, and everything else just looked ok because it went through a red filter (like the green in ofp nv goggles). You can make kind-of thermal goggles in ofp by converting the nvgoggles, although that's still very advanced. I wonder if anybody would like to take on this project? Try posting an ad in the recruitment depot once its open again.  ::)
