Help! Making units start in vehicles
« on: 14 Sep 2002, 23:44:17 »
Hi, ok im an improving newbie to editing, but like for some really weird reason now, i cannot use the init field to make a unit start in a vehicle.

I had it working before, and i have even tryed uninstalling and installing Operation Flashpoint and not updating or adding addons, and i still cannot do it...

What i am doing is this

Side=West
Class=Men
Unit-Soldier (or anything)
Name=Anything
Init Field=this assignasdriver Jeep

Side=empty
Class=Car
Unit=Jeep (or anything)
Name=Jeep

Why doesnt that work? it was before. I preview and my soldier just starts outside the jeep, not inside it like i had it doing before with those commands. Please help. Thanks.

Hi there Venkman  :)

A straight forward quote from the com ref considering the assingasdriver:

Tells the selected unit to take the driver position when entering the selected vehicle. Does not make the unit enter the vehicle, that must still be done with a GET
IN waypoint or the ordergetin command.

So in this case when you want to start straight away in the car you'll be using the
moveindriver command  ;D

unitname moveindriver vehiclename

ps. Ghostbusters rule!  :D

OMG thanks soo much for that Artak. Yeah i thought the assign command looked a little weird cuz it didnt look familar when i did it the second time.

Sweet moveindriver works well, i mustve just forgotten which one briefly, in like 1 hour! LOL. Yeah Ghostbusters rule, got the dvd set. One of my favorite movies. Anyways thanks very much for your prompt reply. See ya. I'll probably be back again with another stupid question sooner or later.

LOL It's the theme in a perfect quality mid! Thanks!  :-*

I don't have the dvd set, because I think that it's not distributed in Finland.

One thinng more though - Could you push that little 'Solve' button up there. This way the staff sees topics which are solved and therefore can be moved to the faq database.

Thanks  ;)
