at ease, soldier!
« on: 23 Jan 2004, 21:06:22 »
OK, one problem I see in almost all missions are when ppl are trying to build a base. Just think for yourself, if you were in a base 5 miles from the front, you sure as hell wouldn't keep your gun on your back when you eat, sleep, report to the CO, whatever. The only way you keep your gun with you is when you go on guard duty or patrol. Now, I think one step ahead since I'm so smart ( ;D 8) ) so I came up with the idea to do some at ease modells/skins. People walking around without their full equipment with helmets, backpacks, etc. Like they only have their undershirt, some pants and their dogtags waving around. Or some lazy guy with just underwear or something ;D .

What do you think? I think it would be great and add more realism to OFP and yet be quite simple to do.

I think it is a good idea. Maybe sleepy faces  :beat:  and half shaved beards or something like that. With new clothes I think a barer body would look blocky since the soldier models are a little more suited to wearing a lot of gear not half naked. But if you could fix that and not have guys look like Mario Bros 2 3D go for it.

My first post! ;D  :toocool:

Yes it is true that soldiers do rest in reality, but are how OFP bases built true to reality. Most base I see people make in missions are more of outposts. If you want realisim you need generators for instance(trust me in the real military generators are one of the most important things of a base). Plus most bases are lager that OFP bases. If you want realism like I do I want realistic bases and camps not just realistic animations.

The only problem with building huge bases is that the object limit thingy would get overloaded and cause lag.

And in OFP depending on the storyline, Cold war crisis used a relative small amount of soldiers like 200- 350 or something. With so many bases they were spread out and not needing large bases. Depends on the storyline though. :)

Well I just thought of something.
Civvis have clothes tighter to their bodies right. Maybe a texturer or skin modeler could make the shirts and stuff look like skin or undershirts or underwear.

Imagine raiding a camp to find the enemy waking up in their shorts or running at you in just undershirts with just their rifles. :moon:
