Right, small prob;)
« on: 11 Jan 2004, 18:42:22 »
OK, I have already posted a question similar to this and I have had some valid solution but the people who answer to to them thanks for that! ;)

But that in turn has created more of a problem. I like many other have the editor upgrade 102 and in my mish I had used the Civilian Militia under Resistance. The Situation that I had made is Civilian police engaged in a fire fight with Resistance Civilian Militia. Now I have grouped the police with East soldiers and have used the deleteVehicle method. Thats worked a treat, but the problem is I have the Resistance setting set on friendly to West and when I group the Civilians to west players to police do not engage the civilians and visa versa. This one has me stumped and I cannot think of a solution for it. Can anyone think of one for me? :-\

Simple answer:
1. group the police with an east officer. (prob of presence 0%)
2. group the civis with a west officer.  (prob of presence 0%)

Get those missions out there you morons!

click in the editor on the weather/time and there you can select the resistance to be frienly to which party and even to none, so you can maken 3 different sides kicking the shit out of each other
 ;D

how many different group you have?

If you have more, you have to group an east or west soldier to each group, to align them to the needed side.

Your right.

What the problem is is that I have civil vs Resi as such and I want them to behave as if they are east vs west. But for some reason when i set them on civils friendly to east then they all kill each ther anyway. Eventhough I've grouped one group to West and the other to East it still does'nt work. ???

Does anyone have an idea to fix this problem because if i group them to east soldiers then they end up shooting each other... >:(

grouping with the propriate side must be working!!!

even if you group an east soldier to a west will work (the soldier with higher rank will align the side)

I suggest you to verify your settings again and again, or delete you group and begin to create once again. as the followings:

1. In the 'intel' within the editor set resistance friendly to west.
now resistance will behave as west

2. create an east soldier, set hise rank to the highest, higher than the civils

3. write to its init field: deleteVehicle this

4. create your civils and group to the east soldier

You might be able to combine the commands

hint
format
side

to help you understand what is actually going on in this odd situation.

If you want Resistance vs Civilian why not make Resistance friendly to nobody and then group the civvies under either West or East?

However, having read the thread, I confess I don't understand what the problem is.   In the first post you write

Quote
police do not engage the civilians and visa versa

but in the later posts you complain that "they are killing each other."   What am I missing?

Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I actually had a shot at this.

I placed a West officer and in his init field I put:

deletevehicle this

Next I placed 10 civilians and grouped them to this officer.

I repeated the above steps with an East Officer  and 10 Resistance fighters.

Result......When they met they slaughtered each other.

Fine........this is exactly right.

So......next I made 2 groups of each type and the civilians groups did NOT attack each other nor did the Resistance groups attack each other.  But the civilians and Resistance groups did attack each other.

This also is fine.

Whether Resistance was set as friendly to East.......West........Nobody.....or.....Everybody, made not the slightest bit of difference.

Everything worked just as it should.

OK nice one boys. I think I have an idea to figure it out. I think my prob lies with the fact that the police are blue on the editor which means there neutral. But I give what u boys said a shot. Nice one lads. :)
