Briefing file problem driving me nuts!

I would be v. grateful if someone out there could help me solve this problem before I set about my PC with a seventeen pound hammer.

Yesterday I wrote a mission briefing and overview file for a mission using a bit of kit called BriefingGen (by AJ Software).  It worked absolutely fine.  Today I tried to do so again and it is all ****** into a cocked hat.  Every time I try to create the files I get a message saying "Run time error 55".  So I gave up and decided to use OFPEditing by Double A Software.  This gives me error code 70 and some gibberish about the files already being in use or some such nonsense.  And Baron's OFMPH Mission Helper gives me an error as soon as you start it up so I'm not even bothering to try that.  
The worst thing is that after giving you these error codes the software irrevocably shuts down and deletes everything you've done so you have to start all over again.  I am going on strike now until I can find out what the hell is wrong with the blasted thing!  

Please give me the benefit of your cumulative wisdom peeps!

SOLVED!  It was weird, the problem was with the picture file.  I deleted it, copied it over from My Documents again and tried redoing the briefing/overview and all was well.

HOWEVER - I now have 2 new problems!

i)  Where can I change the name of the mission as it appears in the SP mission list?  I must have made a typo at some point `cause it's wrong, but all the files have the right name and I can't find it mispelled anywhere!  I'm on about the mission name that you click on to show the overview.

ii)  At the start of the mission the mission briefing has a big gap in it, which I didn't put in.  It's on the second page.  There's a couple of lines of text at the top and one half way down, just above the mission objectives.  There's one arrow half way down the screen.  Click this and it removes the mission objectives altogether but presents the text correctly.  The objectives just completely disappear but the text all looks fine, no big gap in it any more.

Any and all help appreciatively received.

1) from the intel screen in the editor. In the upper right corner where there's the date and a cloud and stuff. Click it and new window will pop up. There's the first section called briefing. There you can write the name. Ignore the description... Does nothing...

2)This is the downside when using some compiler to make the briefing.
It 'stains' the code, especially if you let the editor change lines (while typing) automatically. I use Dreamweaver and at least it does that so try to use enter to switch lines, it may help...

If I'm totally wrong, someone please correct me...

Its easier to wysiwyg (does anyone even use that word anymore   ) things together and then make the small corrections to make it look OK in OFP...

Write the Briefing manually in Notepad.    It's the quickest way in the long run.    I know no html at all, I just copied from other Briefings like the one in snnYpir's tute.   If you want another example to copy use the one in the Tutorial Mission in the Ed Depot, that's what it's there for.     Briefings don't use "pure" html anyway, which is why there is no easy shortcut.

I use Chris Script Editor to create a skeleton briefing for me, then I write by hand. It's easy, fast and effective.

CHOFPSE (Chris Hendersons Operation Flashpoitn Script Editor) is amazing, it creates the best HTML documents, overviews and briefings,  it does it well enough  i do not need to write them again, places the picture in exactly the right places

A right little gem  :thumbsup:
