What program, and how do I change addons?
« on: 24 Nov 2003, 07:52:16 »
Well, I haven't posted here before, but with any luck, y'all can help me out with a little niggle I have.

What program is used to open addon files (.pbo)? I'm just starting this kinda thing, but whenever I attempt to edit a weapon (namewise) by opening the .pbo file in wordpad, and changing the values, they don't work anymore!

Can anyone help? I'm a newbie to this kinda stuff - I spent more of my time mission-making.

Cheers, men.

Just a little more info: I want to change the weapon, unit and magazine names before I modify the model. Does wordpad work, or does it corrupt the files somehow?

Use Amalfis PBO decryptor v 1.5, available from the Editors Depot here:

http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?browsewhat=3&category=3_2

Use this on the PBO files, it will produce a folder containing all the files contained in the PBO.

Then you can edit any config.cpp files to your hearts content using Notepad.

When saving again from Notepad be sure to Save As type All Files and not as Text (.txt).
The file should be called config.cpp and not config.cpp.txt.

You can pack it all up again into a PBO using StuffPBO, also available in the Editors Depot.
