Create an ai unit in game?
« on: 08 Nov 2003, 20:54:50 »
I have searched the FAQs for the answer to this but, even though a result came up, the page could not be displayed for some reason!
I am trying to create a group of AI planes (already flying) during the game. I was hoping to do this with a trigger but I don't know the command. The reason I need to do this is because, even if I put them in the far corner of the map (Everon), they reach their target far too soon.
Any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance.

 :)

Aha!   This sounds like a problem for (*runs into telephone booth, gets changed)

CAPTAIN SWITCHTRIGGER![/b]

Create your group of planes in the mission editor.     Give them a hold waypoint somewhere out of the way, out at sea.    The next waypoint should be seek and destroy, or destroy a certain object, whateer you want.    Now create a trigger, activated when you want the planes to come in a attack.    Make the trigger type switch.    Synchro the trigger to the hold waypoint.      You'll have to do some playtesting to get the hold waypoint in just the right place to get the timing right.

There are various tutorials in the Ed Depot covering switch triggers, which are a vital tool in the mission designer's armoury.    Post here again if you get stuck.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Cheers Captain Switchtrigger!!!  ;D

All works great now... and I would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for those pesky kids!
