Unit Spacing
« on: 27 Oct 2003, 17:32:46 »
Hey guys I'm new to editing Flashpoint. I ahve been making a simple coop mission with the Canadian Mods from Op. Northstar, and I put the units in formation on the map, and when I preview the mission, they come out scattered all over the map.   How do I correct this so that units I place on the ground stay where they are?
Thanks in advance.
Props to the site.

When you place or edit an object in the Mission Editor you will find a field called "special".     It's a drop down menu box.   Make sure it is set to "formation".     The unit will now start the mission in formation with the group leader.

If you want the unit to start exactly where you placed him, set the field to "none".    However, the loon will usually move into formation with the group leader as soon as the mission starts.

If you want the group's starting formation to be something other than Wedge (which is the default) you can either put a command in the leader's init field or give him a waypoint right at the starting postition.    You can set the formation you want by editing the waypoint.

If you want the loon to start out of formation and stay there then you need to issue a doStop command.

Hey man...

Alternatively, if you just need them to start off closer together and don't care about their formation later on, there's a drop-down window where one of the options is 'None'...that means that the unit will start off whereever you place him on the map. (Other options are 'Flying', etc...)

Good luck!
