camera/movement

Hello everyone,
could you direct me to the best camera/intro tutorial on this site? My feeble attempts at creating a half decent intro even make me hoot with laughter, so I have gone back to using triggers, pan around slowly from right front. Ugh! It has to be basic though, along the lines of "When the big hands on the......" Effectively a tute for dummies.

Also movement of troops sometimes when I make a relatively straight forward request for someone to move from point A to B I'll get a "negative". We are not under fire or threat and sometimes when they do move the fellows insist on taking the scenic route, with the enivitable
"Oh no 3 is down" 'Cause they have wandered into view of the enemy. I dont move them great distances and try to cover them at all times and place them so they do likewise for me. But bloody hell when I ask 'em to crawl to a tree at my twelve o'clock and they go in the opposite direction it leaves me scratching my head and wondering why they do it. What am I doing wrong?

May as well toss all my other games into storage, OFP has got me well hooked. Is there a cure? Besides drinking more beer and going into a coma? Thanks for your time, back into it.

                        cheers

Well i suppose the best and most complete tutorial would be Snypir's Intro to camera scripting which you can find here...
http://www.ofpec.com/editors/resource_view.php?id=50

And then there is the must-know camera.sqs guide by Messiah -
http://www.ofpec.com/editors/resource_view.php?id=557

But if your too impatient to read through Snypir's guide, and would just like to know the basics then i would highly recomend Rob's simple camera scripting tutorial...
http://www.ofpec.com/editors/resource_view.php?id=51

And im sure the other folks here would gladly point out any other good guides.  ;D

As for your movement problem, i'm not sure.. The ai can be pretty dumb at times.   :-\

I second Snypirs guide.  I'm a n00b at this too and I found it very easy to follow.
heck, I've got the intro working better than the rest of the mission.  Go figure..

Korax has it spot on for the tutes.   Once you've cracked it (which doesn't take long) it's actually a lot easier than using the triggers.    Read both snYpir's and messiah's tutes through to the end before attempting anything.    You don't need to understand every detail on the first read through, just get the sense.   There are very simple examples of working camera scripts in the the Tutorial Mission in the Ed Depot.    Nick one and use it as a template.

Movement ... well it's always hard to make the loons do what you want in a combat cutscene, which is why you don't see many good ones.    I usually end up giving waypoints to each loon individually, rather than having them in groups.    Increasing the skill slider can help - never place units with less than 50% skill unless you really want them to be idiots.

As for the cure for OFP - that's easy.   Simply walk backwards for Christmas across the Irish Sea.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
