Making a Briefing
« on: 26 Oct 2003, 17:47:17 »
Ok, I'll try to explain exactly what I'm doing...

I want to write a briefing. Simple as that. Using the template Briefing provided in the OpFlash Read Me (the one with the tutorial on how to use the editor). I figure I can simply edit that template with my own stuff and have a fully operating briefing. HOWEVER after editing it in MS Word 97 and saving it again I find that ALL information in the briefing is moved into the -NOTES- section. Only a small part of it should be there, everything else should be in the PLAN section. But this just doesn't happen. Even the most miniscule change automatically moves all the text into the notes section, and I've become exasperated over the past couple of hours trying to fix it. Some help would be appreciated.

Ah, this one has been asked by all

Creating briefings has gotten a lot easier since people have developed tools to help make them.

I myself use Chris's OFP Script Editor, and it's great, it has absolutly everything you'll probably ever need ;).

If Word is causing problems, use Notepad or Wordpad. There's no good reason to use MS Word when scripting or making briefings.

Read snYpir's tutorial "how to make briefings" then read his "how to use objectives and init.sqs".    There is also a template briefing file for you to use in the Tutorial Mission.     All in the Editors Depot, where you will find many tutorials much more helpful than the one that came with the game.   ;)

As m21man says, always use notepad or wordpad when doing anything to do with OFP.   Anything else (eg Word or Explorer) just screws things up.... as you've discovered.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
