I'm no expert, but I think that you have to save the alpha channel before saving the picture itself.

I may take a peek at this later to see how to go about it.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about a little.

OK......Using PSP 7.04 here.

I went to the File Menu..........New and made a new picture with the following:

width = 256
height = 256
Both in pixels (of course)

Background colour = White
16.7 Million colours (24 Bit)

Next I went to the Mask Menu........New.......Show All.
Back to Mask Menu.......Save To Alpha Channel.

A requester pops up......I just pressed OK.
Another requester pops up......I pressed OK again.

I checked the picture by going to the Image Menu......Image Information. It says I have 1 layer and 1 alpha

Next I went to the File Menu,,,,Save As.

The 'Save' As requester pops up.

I chose to save it as a Truevision Targa (*.tga) file......then I pressed the Options button on the 'Save As' requester.
From the resulting requester I chose:

24 bits
Uncompressed

I pressed OK.......then Save.

An information message appeared.....I just pressed Yes and it saved OK.

After reloading the pictureIt it still had 1 layer and 1 alpha.

Hope this helps a bit.

works fine, thanks, i'd also like to point out that to edit the channel you have to click edit and then once your finished click edit again to exit mask editing mode and then save to alpha channel
