Playsound problem

When I put this in a script:-

loon1 say "sound1"

I can hear the speech and the text appears on the screen.   So far so good.    But in this cutscene the camera cuts away from the speaker while he is speaking, too far away for "say" stuff to be heard.    

So I thought I'd use playsound instead, but it doesn't work.    The text appears on the screen, but no speech.   Why?   What stupid little detail have I missed?   ::)  I've added the line

0 fadesound 1

to the script in case that would help, but it didn't.


All advice appreciated.    Is this the best way to handle speech while the camera is far away?

i aint sound genius (1 of da 3 things in OFP dat i atin exapert in  :-X  :o)

but heres idea

check how BIS made troska talkin (its desc.ext thingy) - in da 1st mision (were he sayz wa hapens nd u c ppl fightin) - u wil also get dis kool text ;) :P

Thanks m8.   I've had a look .... they use a mixture of say and playsound, sometimes giving the say command to an appropriate object.   I'll try that.   Doesn't answer why my playsound isn't working though.     Anybody else got any suggestions?
