Putting units on buildings
« on: 29 Aug 2003, 09:19:03 »
Okay, I know it, I'm sad. I don't know how to correctly place a unit on top of a building. I want to put a couple AA guys on a tall building so you have to kill them to land on it. I figure I need to use setpos, but I'm not sure how to use it. Thanks!

1. Zoom in and try placing a soldier on the bulding (sometimes it works, sometimes not)
2. Soldier's init field:
Code: [Select]
this setpos [getpos this select 0, getpos this select 1, (getpos this select 2) +?]Stalker will always help Stalker ;D

Or you can put them on the builiding and change thier formation to 'flying'. This will place them on top of the building. I think it works with resistance only, but i'm not sure.

L ;D L, I was downloading a movie of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R when I entered this topic.  ;D

That setpos command works all the time.  ::)

For high buildings, it's usually just a matter of trial and error as to getting the right height. I thinks it's around 15m for the apartment blocks on Nogova.
By this way, you can also place units (using the method below) on the 3rd floor etc for when you move down buildings. ;)

If you want the units to stay in position on the roof and not fall off like numheads >:(, just put dostop this in their init, and this setunitpos "up" if you want 'em to stand in position and fire at you while you're landing ;D

I think only resistance allows you to stand on the roof of a building anyway. But yeah, using 'flying' works, just not for putting vehicles on rooftops.  ::)

Also, use a 'dostop' command to keep 'em 'glued' to their position. Lol. ;D

Wow, it's like some weird episode of "Twilight Zone: Stalker Files"! No acually, Stalker, when I signed up, I wanted Wires to make you change your name, but he wouldn't go for it! And S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is looking to be a great game. Anyhow, thanks for the help, easy stuff, eh?

I'll never change my name 'cos it's the only forum where I'm registered as Stalker, not _Stalker, Stalker_, [blablabla]Stalker etc. ;D BTW the developers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. live in my city  ;D
