I need some help with switch triggers, please
« on: 29 Aug 2003, 16:05:20 »
I have just finished The Real Armstrong's guide to switch triggers.  In fact I based a little mission I made on it.  Thanks TRA. ;D

I either am reading too much into this, or I don't get it at all. :-\

Where else can I get more info on these little guys?  If I have this right, then a switch trigger switches when it's triggered?

So what if I have 5 guys on one side of the base, and one guy on the other side of the base, and I shoot the lone guy.  The trigger should fire, right?  What if I want it to fire if ANY of the guys get shot at?  And then all the others rush to his rescue?

But then how can I take him out w/o the others knowing unless one of them are there, like in real life?  They would not know if they did not see him die?  I could hide the body....

I'm trying to figure out how they did all the special ops missions.

Any help would be super. ;)  A point to a tutorial would be even better.
I think I've printed out all the tutorials on this site. :D

I'm making a huge manual.

Thx! An update on the tutorial is going to be made by Chris Death, so stay tuned. I really don't know much about switches myself and the reason I wrote the tutorial was that I was sick of all these bases/towns that had guards walking around in safe mode in the north part of town when their buddies was blasted into pieces in the south.

And I don't understand your problem really, could be me of course since I'm tired as hell ;D .

EDIT: Oh, now I understand! ;D

Well, the easiest way to do this is to make a count. Like this:

(count thislist) <= 5

Now, this will trigger when there's onlt 5 guys left, and you said u had 6, but if you add more ppl you could add a higher number. If the player has been detected or not is a bit more complicated and I'm sure some1 else will help you there cause I really need some rest :P

Thanks a bunch.  I think I'm reading too much into this.  It seems like a simple logic switch.  BTW: I never looked at this island before.  This is going to be my bad guys base on my first mission.  I think it will be a drug lord kind of a thing.  Or someone selling guns or something.

Maybe stolen cars?
