« on: 28 Aug 2003, 09:34:26 »
Hi everyone...

I have some question on .dem file

currently i trying to create my own map using the mircodem -> mdem4ter -> Wilbur   -> Wrp Editor

I'm wondering if i can create my own .dem file?
so that i could have my own map??? ???

If it possible can anyone teach me how to do it or is there any tutorial for the mircodem ?

Another question regarding the process of creating the map.
Must i follow the whole process?

Is there any easy way to create my own map?

 :help:
thank you...

You can create your own map with wilbur!!!!
If you can't beat them, buy them

Yes you can with microdem or Global Mapper
http://www.globalmapper.com/
(but you really need the registered version to be able to do anything fun) AstalaVista... ;D

R2V is also a nice tool if you want to convert a paper map...
http://www.ablesw.com/r2v/
(but you really need the registered version to be able to do anything fun) OverNet  ;D

Also have a look at http://www.vterrain.org/ loads of stuff on terrain modelling (not
op:fs related but...)

And a nice tutorial on how to extract dem data from a scanned paper map..
http://www.terrainmap.com/rm19.html

Also check http://www.terrainmap.com/ for loads of info on dem making..
