Finding Position of Objects on Maps?
« on: 23 Aug 2003, 04:17:18 »
How do you find the name of objects on a map? ???
What tools will i need to find the names of the objects?

I'm making a night mission on Visnorsk using Mapfactory objects, where you can turn off lights in a town.  8)

Got the switch box set up and the trigger, but I just need to find the name of the lights I intend to turn off (via action switchlight "off") ie. object number on the map.

hmm - as far as i know there's a been nice readme file
comming along with mapfacts objects  ;)

You should find all relevant information in there

:edit - huh - just thought again

are these objects already on the map, (extra addons
included to the addon map)?

If so, i'm not sure if addon makers can include the
show id number support for their maps -> would then
be: show id number /on in editor + zoom in close

If not you could still use nearestObject - check the comref
for that command.

No custom addon lights are involved, just the basic ones that are placed on the map by the mapmaker.

I've read the readme, doesn't have what I'm looking for. Looked in the sqs file for mission, says (object 53492) switchlight "off". got that.

Just gotta find the number for each of the objects I'm looking for. I'll try what you suggested.

Thanks, Show ID worked.

Should have thought of it in the first place.
