Order a chopper to destroy an empty target
« on: 21 Aug 2003, 22:22:25 »
I've tried to order using a DESTROY waypoint an AH-64 to destroy an empty ZU 23-2 AA but nothing! Is there a way for this to be done?

Try having an east unit in the target at the start of the mission, to make it an East vehicle.     Then deleteVehicle the unit

Name both of the objects and test with:
choppername dodestory or dotarget vehiclename

I'd go with the DoFire command. Can't see any reference to the DoDestroy.

Because there is no such command :)

I would go with a doTarget and then a doFire, to make sure.

Unfortunatelly nothing works! I've tried both inserting an East unit and then DeleteVehicle the unit, as well as DoTarget and DoFire. Then I tried both together but no luck!  :-[

Anybody any ideas?

Try a CommandFire, though this might not work if the plane is the only member in the group. Does the shilka have to be empty? Is it only empty to stop it from killing the plane? If that's so then just set the shilka's combatmode to "blue" (never fire). I think I'll go and see if I get this problem...

No problems whatsoever with me. The A10 sailed in and blew up the Shilka, just by using a normal "Destroy" waypoint. You sure your jet has ammo?  ;)

You also have to make sure that the Destroy waypoint is attached to the vehicle.

The DESTROY waypoint is on exactly target. I'm using an empty ZU 23-2 AA Gun and an apache as the attacker. I've tried DoTarget, DoFire as well as ordering an enemy unit to get in (by MoveInGunner, Get In WP etc) and the DeleteVehicle unit, LeaveVehicle everything!!! Zero ???

hmm.... you can fake the whole empty thing.... Place a manned shilka then set the feul to 0 and ammo to 0..... then the chopper will attack it... thinking its a threat.... and it will look as if its empty....
