Grim, i really recommend now that you have
a look into one of the OFP editing tutorials,
as you are now on a stage, where there will
follow a whole lotta more questions like that.

Now everytime you getting answers to your
questions, there will be popping up a few more
questions upon these answers, because you
will need an overview about the whole thing
to understand the little things.

For example: your actual questions can be answered
in (at least) 20 different ways, and 19 of them would
just let you become more confused than before  ;)

I do not mean any offence here, but once you
go through such a tutorial, you will understand
what i mean.

Just have a look at here:

http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?category=1_1

We all had to start from scratch by reading tutorials,
asking questions or looking through several forum threads,
just to switch over to ofp editor and try it out.

Again i say: no offence to you, and i always want to help
somebody on the forum, but in this case it's really better
you go for the tutorial.

It could happen easily that a mod is entering the scene
and says: "question has been asked tousand times,
use the forum search option - topic locked"  ;)

lol - what about all others, where you do not see (DUTCH)
beside  ;)

Or better, what about: "getting started"
and then climb up the ladder of tute's

Another hint:

There's even a small tutorial been commin with the
game, where you can also learn very basic steps, including
the answer to your question here.

How do I access it?

usually you open the readme file by dbl-clicking it,

but in some cases you may right-click it followed
by left-clicking onto "open"

Did i already mention that the information is inside
the readme file in your operation flashpoint folder?

 ;)

I apologize, I didn't write what I meant to say. But you still answered it. I know how to access it, I just didn't know where. :P I'm such an idiot (It's shameful but my friends can vouch for me on this :)).

Does anybody know a script that will activate a trigger after all enemies have died? I know how to write a script for a single to die but not a large group. This is essentail information!

Please oblige.

Well,

There are more ways to do that:

"alive _x" count array == 0

might be the most efficient

while array represents an array of units

may it be a units group or a list trigger or
an handmade array [unit1,unit2,unit3,unit4]

Read up on the commands

alive
count
==

Are you familiar with the concept of an array in OFP?

We'll be more than happy to explain it all, it's just easier if we know what you do and don't understand first. ;)

This'll make me look like an idiot, but I don't know what you mean.

Maybe I shoudn't have asked today, I'm a little busy and my school's going to start soon, I won't be able to work on my OFP projects for a while :'(. I have a lot going on in my head (besides the voices I hear ;)), and I don't have the time to read every detail or check reguarly in the forum.

But, within two weeks, my time in this forum will have withered to a trickle :'(.

No offense, of course :)
I apologize for wasting yours, Chris's, and Macguba's time in this thread :)

Don't worry GrimMonkey, you're not wasting anybody's time.    All Chris Death is saying is that one question leads to another, and another, and another ..... and you end up trying to run before you can walk, which is silly because the answers to ALL of these questions are in the Editors Depot.

The fastest way for you to learn is to study tutorials.     The forum is there to help you when the tutorials - and the FAQ, which is also excellent - don't cover what you need to know.

You are very lucky having tutorials - when I started OFP editing there were only a handful in existence.    I learnt from these few, from experimenting, from un-pboing other people's missions (including official ones) and from reading the official and unofficial command references.   Being a bit slow on the uptake, I didn't even discover the forums until my first proper mission was almost finished.

In this thread you have asked a legitimate question, and Chris Death has given you an excellent answer.      If you've never heard of an array, I suggest you start with a dictionary.   There is also a little section in the unofficial command reference.  The forum is not a substitute for your own research:   it is a refuge for when research fails. ;)

Note to the world:     EVERYBODY should read the sticky topic "How to find the answer to your question" at the top of this Board AND follow it's advice before posting a question.

Thanks Mac, :)

I will.
:wow: must've taken a long time to learn scripts and junk when you began, lol.

I find it annoying when I discover that there was something else in OFP I had never heard of,  :-\. Oh well, live and learn :).

Getting started in OFP editing is a little tricky sometimes because everything depends on everything else - you don't have a firm starting point.

However, you don't have to persevere for very long before it all starts to fall into place.

Just keep at it and you'll be fine.  ;)
