Custom "HQ" problem
« on: 18 Aug 2003, 21:12:00 »
Hi!

I'm trying to use Custom "HQ" Radio Callsigns and I have read the great tutorial by toadlife. I managed to get everything to work that I tried from the instructions, except one small thing. I can't seem to get [Guer,"HQ"] to work, only [East,"HQ"] and [West,"HQ"]. It says in the tutorial that you may use ("East", "Guer", or "Civil") in place of "West". Well "Guer" doesn't work and I'm not sure about Civil either. What am I doing wrong?

In the init file I put:    firefly = [Guer, "airbase"]

and in the onactivation in a trigger:   firefly sidechat "whatevertext"

When I replaced "Guer" with "West" or "East" it worked just fine for those sides.

Thankful for help, thx :)

Perhaps this is because the Resistance army has no airforce...

You could always create a unit with "Firefly" as the identity (you have to set this in the CfgIdentities part of the description.ext) and hide him on an island or something. Not quite the same effect though, obviously.

Yeah, but it doesn't work with "HQ" either, even though the tutorial says so. :)

I was just reading the tutorial and where it says

Quote
....not on the West side, you need to put the appropriate side ("East", "Guer", or "Civil") in place of "West".

In the v1.85 ComRef, sides are delcared as West, East, Resistance and Civilian.

I've been using those in my scripts (? Side player == Resistance......) and they work fine.

Also, in the CPP file definitions it shows Guerrila and Civilian when declaring sides, Toadlife may have simply been abbreviating in the tutorial.

Maybe try Resistance, Guerrila or Civilian instead of Guer and Civil, see if that works?

Maybe he really did use abridgments in the tutorial but I still can't seem to get it to work. Thanks for your help but I think I give up :)

They seem to have forgotten about "guer" in a lot of places :/

I'm trying to make a briefing plan for resistance and when I type "<p><a name="plan.guer"></a>" nothing happens aaaaaaaaagrhr!!!!
It works to make objectives like this:
"<p><a name = "OBJ_guer_3"></a>Victory Locations:"

No offence BIS but, gaaah.
