Goggles
« on: 13 Aug 2003, 17:09:22 »
I've noticed the option to 'lower goggles' with the Deltas and Rangers of BAS. I figured it's probably got something to do with riding motorcycles, but I've noticed no difference when the gogglers were raised. So, what, are they there just for realism?

I think that the goggles prevent you from choking the dust kicked up by BAS choppers. Of course, you'd think that you would still choke on the dust with goggles on...

Does it really work? And if it does, does it work only on choppers? And do the pilots need goggles too?

It works only with the BAS Choppers. The new SOAR pilots that come with the Blackhawks do have visors that kind of act the same way.

I might be misunderstanding your question, but no, nothing inside the chopper needs goggles.  If you are outside and close to it and the engines are running on powers idle or better, then yes, you need goggles in the down position.  Regular OFP units that don't have goggles at all are kind of blinded, though this doesn't seem to effect the AI.
