Another Laser Problem

I want to give a resistance soldier a laser designator, so I do "removeallweapons this" and then give him back his gun and a laser designator and the Mag for it. But in the game, when I go to fire the laser it says something like "Vehicle Error 1C" or something like that. Any way to fix this?
