Blank rounds?
« on: 08 Sep 2002, 03:05:25 »
Hi all.

I need a blank firing script for my mod (Hoffman's Luck, PLUG PLUG!!  ;D) and for the opening cutscene I need to have British and American forces (both tanks and infantry) on excercise firing blank rounds at each other. So in other words, is it possible to have the report and muzzle flash without the consequences of shooting real bullets (ie. dead people)?

If anyone knows of one, could you either mail it to me (mr_shady@hotmail.com) or if it's below 50kb, post it here?

Okay? 'Kay then.  ;D

  Hi.

I know the guys that made Tiawan 2002.. made a weapon that shot "blank" ammo.  The whole thing behind it was that it shot ammo that did like .0001 of damage or something along those lines.  So it fires that ammo you see a little blood but it takes a gazillion rounds to kill someone. Pretty cool huh.

So I know that there are some brilliant scripters out there that if I said... uhh.. it can't be done.. that they would do it.. but if you find I think it's the Taiwan Workshop guys and ask their permission then you may be able to use their weapons just as "trainers" you mission.

  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, but that's not exactly what I need, since there'd be no blood if I shot at someone with a blank round. I know I'm being a pedant, but I don't want to cut any corners.

Cheers though. Seriously. :)

You need to make ammo that does 0.0 damage when it hits, it can be done in the config.cpp of the weapon, but it takes a long time...

so you could have:

"Reload M16 Blanks Mag"
and
"Reload M16 Mag" - (Normal ammo)

I think this can be done  :-\ but as i said it will take a long time to work out and tweak.

Hmm... I only need blank firing for one cutscene, I don't want to make all the guns permenantly useless. Dammit, this is tougher than I anticipated!

Looks like I'll just stick my troops on the ranges and shoot some targets rather than have them firing at each other. Not what I wanted, but that's life :(

Just get a config for the M16, change the class names and change damage to 0.0 - not that hard - you only need the options if you want to be able to change between blanks and normal ammo in a mission.
