Defend the fleet!

I have an idea.  How about your naval squadron is off the coast of some island gathering intelligence on enemy placements and managing rescues when you're all attacked by powerful warships.  Scramble the jets and prepare to defend the fleet.  For the east you could use everything from the patrol boat, the russian warship, and the zuber aircraft because lets face it, that puppy kicks major butt when it comes to giving you a hard time trying to fly.  You could even reverse it and try to prevent the Russians from landing on the island.  You could say that the Russians are invading Wake Island which would be very cool.

Actually, this would be a great idea for a WW2 mission if we ever see any aircraft carriers or large warships. Not sure how the ww2 fighters that are released are, but I'm sure they would be great too.

There is an aircraft carrier in a fairly advanced state of development, if not released.    Working catapult and arrester wires and everthing.
