how do you make airports in the mission editor?

well , find yourself a nearly empty runway (yes you do need one unless you edit the island itself) then look in EMPTY>SUPPORT or OBJECTS
and then just experiment

if you want an example go to http://www.planetrainbowsix.com/atwar
and on the downloads drop down list click MISC addons and look for EVERON HELO SUPPORT BASE and d/l it, its got a lot of addons needed, and is about 4-5 megs in file size, but most addons are with it

you also need Version 1.85 of the game (if you have Resistance then you have it)
and i THINK you need Red hammer to have been installed, or if you got the GOTY edition you will have it installed

i have OFP:GOTY and somewhere i SWEAR that you could place down roads and runways and stuff......im sure it was there lol, dunno really lol

 You can't

 you're not going to get a plane to take off from anything but an existing runway..

what if i don't want it for  actual landing or taking off jsut for looks?

 Best place to look for those objects would be under

Empty/Camera
or
Empty/Support

 I think thats where all the bushes/trees/roads   end up when you have the editor upgrade installed

i looked but there is taxi way and stuff but just isn't the same thing

You are right, calm_terror. There is no runway in kegety's object addon. Nor could there be, if I'm not mistaken. I believe that the runway is not an "object", like a roadway is, but it is a terrain tile (like a grass tile, or a desert tile, etc). Since terrain tiles can only be added/edited via making a new island, I'm afraid you're SOL.
