Vehicle Chat Problems

simple enuff really...

i have lots of radio chatter going on and sidechat appears blue as we all know... and vehicle chat appears yellow... and i want vehicle chat to allow the player to distinguish the important message.

so... i have a chook... and the player is in the chook as cargo (moveincargo). So i make the pilot of the chopper vehicle chat:

chop3 vehiclechat "blablabla"

now that didnt work, so i tried:

(driver chop3) vehiclechat "blablabla"

that didnt work either... am i guessing right, that vehicle chat only works if the peeps are in the same group and vehicle? cos i want only the player in the chook to read the radion message.

vehicleradio doesnt work either.

I'm pretty sure vehiclechat only applies to crew members.  Maybe you could group the player to the chopper and use groupchat instead?

no can do... cos the chopper has to be seperate from the units... thing is, in the com ref it says this will appear to all in the vehicle... am i just shagging a dead horse with this? just give up and use side chat i guess...

i dont think vehiclechat even works in SP  :-\ (but im not sure)

but u can use global chat   - or groupchat if dey on same group

just tested it, vehiclechat doesn't work in sp (like LCD said)

you could use a titletext, though that might not look too good...otherwise you're stuck with globalchat...

maybe you could do something like:

guy globalchat "<<<Heli Pilot: ETA four minutes, over.>>>"

the <<<>>> could get the player's attention so he would know it was important

A trick I sometimes use to lower case text rather than CAPITALS.    Helps make it stand out a bit.
