Burning Mh-47 engine?
« on: 20 Jul 2003, 11:17:42 »
I'm trying to make a cutscene in which an Mh-47 flies around, then there is a tiny explosion in the engine compartment and it starts trailing fire and smoke. I would imagine that I have to use the drop command for this, only trouble is, I have no idea how the drop command works :(

Btw, is it realistic that an Mh-47 crash lands if one engine is on fire?

Well, if she's leaking oil or similar stuff.... dunno, I'm, not a chopper pilot m8  :-\ ::) ;D

But the MH has an inbuilt smoke-scroll, doesn't it?!

It doesn't have the explosion and you can't trigger it in a cutscene though, can you ? :)

locate the name of the scroll, mate, and launch it in a trigger/WP :thumbsup:

De-Pbo the addon & find the "smoke" script. Then fire it:

[MH_name] exec "\bas_MHaddon\scripts\scrollName..."  :P ::) ;D

som'n like that!

Hahhahahahahhahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, oh man that was funny.

Soz to say this, but all I wanna say, is that that idea sounds AWSOME !!! When you get that done (If) you have GOT TO put it on the site, or in the beta testing mission or soemthing.

Just thought you'd like to know.

In general, a multi-engine aircraft (fixed wing or rotary) will not crash if one engine fails.     Some can fly with one engine gone, others cannot, but the ones that cannot will still have enough power to make some kind of controlled landing.

However, if you have an explosion or fire in an engine (rather than it just stops working) that's a different matter.    If the engines are adjacent then it's only a matter of time ( and probably not very much time) before the other ones stops too, probably just as catastrophically.

In other words, make the explosion convincing (though not huge) and the MH47 is definitely kissing the dirt.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
