Widescreen camera effect?
« on: 25 Jun 2003, 06:05:11 »
I havent made any cutscenes for OFP in a while. I seem to remember a camera command that would replace the transparent areas at the top & bottom with black so it would look like a widescreen movie. How do I do this?

Thanx!

@TeranAce007

Is it this line, somewhere at the bottom of your camera script,
what you're looking for?:

showCinemaBorder=true

@gokistanis

I don't get what you mean

OFP editor is one of the most powerfull ingame editors i've
ever seen - nearly everything is possible, once you know how.

By just creating a cutscene you automatically get the cinema border ;)

You said you aint made a cut-scene in a while.....have a look at this small tute i wrote for a mate of mine...it might clear the cobwebs away ;)

well, suppose I am missunderstood...

first thanks for command very much... it helped me quite, thanks :)

and I tried to drove at that mission editor is a very command oriented editor which means instead of an interface showing only related buttons, the current editor requires lines of commands to be put into related fields such as initialization fileds. I won't say to you an overall alternative, but at least there can be a folder in operation flashpoint's main mission and we, players, may click a button in editor and just see how much animation, command are available in that folder together with commands' explanations. those could be self explanatory... now we are communicating via ofpec and saying those commands to each other. I mean instead, we could download those command packages into related folder and when we open a unit's ini field, there can be an interface with search box and we could type for example "cutscene" and it could show the commands with explanations such as;

 -    search  results:       "showCinemaBorder=true"      this is for making cutscenes appear in 16:9 screen ratio       - click for example view   -

and we could just put a tick near that command and click ok. and preview the mission...

now we forget commands or don't know and ask each other. wasting time... some of us are putting the commands into word files as archive and they are using their archive yet this is not making the editor more helpful. this is just making you more hero in mission making :)

Consequently, simply and briefly I can say "mission editor is a glistening, colorful, shining empty page like a microsoft notepad page and we are real heros making game with this tool. look at yourself dude, you are opening an excel sheet, a sqs file or converting your audio into some sound format with a description file to play that audio in game ! instead of this, for instance,  mission editor should convert an mp3 into that format and write related desription file.

yet thanks again so much for helping and as I said, I see you as an hero. don't forget this my friend,

lol - think about it again;

If we wouldn't have to comunicate via OFPEC, then who
in the world would have made me his "hero"  ;D

Such nice people to meet out in the comunity, which i'd
never have met if OFP editing would have been peasy-easy  8)

glad to could have helped out here  :D

:edit - but i agree on your ingame comref - would be good
to have such a thing.
At least the ingame typing wizzard has been implemented,
where ou start typing a word and the editor comes up
with a suggestion of what you want to type.

Well, I already have the dark areas at the top and bottom, but they are transparent. I was wondering if I could make it black instead of see-thru, so it would look like a real widescreenmovie does.

What about black and white cut scenes? Is this possible, since I'm making a WW2 mission?

yes I am an against-mission-editor guy :) yet again enjoying making mission :)

fortunately there is ofpec and we are members of it so we can help each other :)

see you,

if you want true widescreen you need to change the camera's field of view, done through the command:

camSetFOV #

0.700 is normal view, 0.100 is zoomed in (far) and 1.0 is widescreen/fisheye.
