Beta hosting
« on: 25 Jun 2003, 03:33:35 »
I was thinking it would be cool if you guys had a page where we could host our Beta missions.

And then when the mission was out of BETA stage we could check off a little check box letting the OFPEC staff know that they can take it off the server.

Something like that.  I think it would be cool ;)
With all those Multiplayer maps in the pending list...
Somebody is gonna get a heart artak ;) lol!!!!!

noon already told u in the other post why they cant do it

"OFPEC is for final product, not for hosting your personal projects (which is what an unfinished mission boils down to).

If we allowed people to constantly abuse the depot like this, we would end up with a large number of unfinished, abandoned missions which take up our space pointlessly and at cost to OFPEC.

This is why we stipulate that you submit final versions only, as what is submitted is what gets reviewed."

basically ppl would submit a mission and never use it, and gradually ofpec would be filled with old beta missions that no one is d/ling.  also they don't want their bandwidth taken by unfinished missions

Thats why you put a simple hosting time limit on the page...

Missions will only be hosted for 1 month, or 2 weeks or whatever...

And once that time runs out, too bad too sad, the Beta is taken off the server.

That works... ::)

No... OFPEC takes the time and money to host finalized user made missions, addons, snippets, and tutorials for the OFP community.

Because of this we should take the initiative to host our Beta's before releasing it to any web sites.

Now there is a way for you to help the OFP community.  Open your own OFP BETA TESTING site.

Good Luck with it.  I know you'll do a great job.

Let me know when it's up and I'll post a news item.

 :)
